What is Skills Intelligence?

Turn a shared skills language into practical action

Skills Intelligence is a foundational capability within the Virkware AI-powered Internal Talent Marketplace. It is the practical use of workforce skills information to improve development, opportunity matching and talent decisions.

Virkware combines an organisation-specific skills framework with employee profiles, aspirations, feedback and marketplace activity so that skills become a basis for action rather than a static catalogue.

Clear AI boundary: Virkware does not currently claim to infer every skill automatically from all work activity. Its AI/ML is used primarily to recommend relevant content, opportunities and people.

From skills inventory to skills in action

A skills framework creates value when people can use it

Virkware connects three jobs that are often treated independently: establishing the foundation, keeping it useful and activating it across talent processes.

1

Build the foundation

Start with the organisation’s existing skills framework or tailor Virkware’s out-of-box starting point. Map baseline skills from employees’ current and past roles.

2

Keep it useful

Employees update skills and certifications. Gig feedback, skills-focused 360 reviews and approved learning information strengthen the profile over time.

3

Activate it

Use skills and aspirations to recommend pathways, gigs, mentors, learning and internal roles—and help managers identify relevant people.

Skills where decisions and development happen

One foundation across multiple talent processes

Skills are most useful when they help an employee discover a path forward and help the organisation act—not when they remain an isolated inventory.

Aspirations add direction: recommendations can reflect what an employee can do today and what could move that person towards a future goal.

Where it matters: organisation-wide reskilling, AI and digital transformation, skills-based organisation, redeployment and post-merger integration.
